Fresh Start

The old is put aside. I am renewed in the spirit of my mind and recreated by God.

e are not what we were. Our histories are important. They are the journey we have taken to get where we are, but they are not chains that bind us to the past. They are but vistas in our spiritual landscape, along with the vistas ahead and those to the side showing the paths not taken. When we walk forward, we must look forward.

When we wake up each morning, we do not try to clothe ourselves in the blanket we were wrapped in at birth. That blanket might be a treasured memory, but it does not fit who we are now. We put on the clothes that fit us now. We are renewed and recreated by God for today.

Ephesians 4:22-24, “Lay aside all your former practices, that is to say, the old man, which is degenerated with deceitful lusts, And be renewed in the spirit of your mind, And put on the new man, who is created by God in righteousness and true holiness.”
