Rituals

I practice every day to build the habit of spiritual thinking.

erhaps we have a morning ritual, each action in its place, and this order prepares us for our day. After years of repetition, we no longer think about our ritual, but find that last thing before going out the door, maybe putting on our shoes, makes our mind ready to face the new day.

In spiritual practice, our rituals are not for God; they are for us to prepare to meet God. Science tells us that well- worn paths of thought are the easiest to any destination. Creating a ritual as a faster path to the meditative state allows us to slip more easily into the presence of God. So, let us each find our ritual, our path, to the Presence.

Leviticus 8:6, 8, “And Moses brought Aaron and his sons, and washed them with water; And he put the breastplate upon him; and he put on the breastplate the Urim and Thummim.”
